Adjusted Heather Blume Self-Picture.jpg

Heather Blume

I’m a Kansas-born contemporary bohemian living in the Seattle Metro area. I attended college at Kansas State University and majored in what my parents called, “Things that don’t make any money.”

I’ve lived in the Pacific Northwest for over a decade, finding that even when the skies are grey, my creativity can shine. My incredibly supportive friends and family have encouraged me to take my artwork public recently, so this is my studio page. While Abstract Acrylics are kind of my jam, I also work in a variety of media, including but not limited to:

Watercolor

Pastels

Printmaking

Mixed Media/Collage

Sculpture/Assemblage

Experimental Mediums and Surfaces

If you like what you see here, would be interested in buying/commissioning a piece or would like to host my work for a showing, I would LOVE to hear from you!

Official Artist’s Bio used for current showings:

Heather Blume’s abstract acrylic portfolio is characterized by deep texture exploration, bold knife strokes as a blending technique, intense color layering, and constant experimentation. Born and raised in northwest Kansas, many of her pieces hearken back to the breathtaking weather and spanning horizons of her childhood, while others reflect the serenity and complex beauty of Western Washington, where she has lived for the last 12 years. “Art is about emotional and intellectual evocation,” Heather says, and in many of her works, dichotomous themes of peaceful solitude and inter-connectivity play, as well as deeper stories and statements about social justice, mental health, hope, and recovery.
