"Recovery"Abstract Acrylic by Heather BlumeJune 201824x30 inchesStatus: Available for Sale or ShowingThis piece required more prep work on the canvas than I usually do - when you look at it initially, it looks almost serene, like a peaceful lake and vivid sunset. But, in person, what really keeps your interest is what's just underneath that serenity. The cuts and scars -the very things that serve as the foundation for all that serenity - those are what make the scene worth a longer look. The interest lies in the imperfections.

"Push"
"Push"Abstract Acrylic by Heather BlumeApril 201824x24 inchesStatus: Available for Sale or Showing“Push” is an experimental piece where I was working with different paint delivery mechanisms and decided to see what the effect of syringes would be. The look differs from a standard pour look because of the force behind the paint and how much variety you can create in the impact points by how hard or fast you choose to work. This piece is finished with white edges.

"Impact"
"Impact"Abstract Acrylic by Heather BlumeApril 201824x24 inchesStatus: Available for Sale or Showing“Impact” was one of my very early pieces, but it is the one that really opened my world up in abstract acrylic. I didn’t have “something” I was trying to make, but I wanted to play with warm vs. cool colors and the juxtaposition of them.
"Learning"
"Learning"Abstract Acrylic by Heather BlumeMarch 201816x20 inchesStatus: Not for Sale“Learning” was my first abstract acrylic experimentation painting. I was having some problems understanding how this type of painting was supposed to work, until an art teacher at the time explained to me that I needed to play freely and spontaneously. She said I was too reserved and I was stopping myself from being good at this by being worried about doing things the “right” way.
